With the majority of Mac computers costing over £1,000, it’s not surprising that the majority of PC users would choose the more affordable Windows compatible devices, but despite only a 10% market share, Apple is highly profitable and is the world’s most valuable company. Macs have long held a reputation for premium pricing compared to PCs, however making an apples-to-apples comparison on price for PC vs. Mac has always been difficult because of the different pre-installed software and components.
Due to their lower cost, PCs have often been the choice for people who needed basic computing functions while creative professionals, who perform tasks such as design or video editing, have chosen an Apple product.

Privacy & Security

With Microsoft having more market dominance it’s only natural that Windows PCs have fallen prey to more malware than Macs including Ransomware, spyware and viruses. Macs are by no means immune to vulnerabilities though.
Microsoft is constantly improving its security, pushing through updates and introducing anti-ransomware measures. Whichever device you opt for though, it’s advisable to install good antivirus software.

Windows Operating Systems vs. Mac OS

In the past it was easy to choose a Mac or PC based on the type of software you needed. Business tools were the domain of the Windows operation system while creativity apps and editing were clearly in a Mac world.

Both operating systems give access to app stores where you can download a varied selection of software and both allow users to customise appearances. Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite can be installed too.

The software has become a much smaller issue as we no longer load it onto our computer but maintain subscriptions that we can access via the cloud. If you stream videos on YouTube, for example, your browser doesn’t care what type of computer or operating system you’re using.

From the MacBook Pro to the iMac, Apple equipment looks great, is long-lasting and has long been praised for its quality. By comparison, there is a big range of PCs on the market that are Windows compatible. With access to top brands such as Dell, HP or Lenovo, fans of Windows have a wide choice, plus they can also customise their devices.
